Mission Statement
The Energy Action Team of Bellevue Community College, was formed through a student initiative and driven by student concern about climate change consequences, to address mitigating the effects of anthropogenic global warming, noting the growing worldwide concerns over the negative environmental impacts of fossil fuel energy production and use, including air and water pollution, loss of biodiversity and human-caused climate change.
We acknowledge that global warming is not merely an environmental issue, but also a social justice issue, a human rights issue and a moral issue.
This initiative is in alignment with the United Nations Millennium goal, which aims to integrate the principles of sustainable development into national policies and programs, and reverse the loss of environmental resources.
We believe that college collaboration on this initiative will increase BCC’s reputation, prestige, and attractiveness to prospective students, faculty and staff and do hereby seek BCC administration, faculty, staff and students to support conversion from non-renewable energy to 100% green, renewable energy on the main campus.
